What is Love??
- Love by definition means an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment
- To teenagers love means going to the movies and sending flowers to school on Valentines day
- To young adults its finding someone with the same interest that could potentially be at the end of the isle one day
- To "mid"adults it means having someone to share children with and start a family
- To parents it means loving your child no matter what and knowing what kind of love that is and no one else will ever know that love until they experience it
- To older couples it means reflecting on the life two people share, a front porch with rocking chairs , and grand-kids
- To me it means having someone there at the end of a terrible day that will hug you and make it all better. It's knowing if I'm sick he will be there to care for me. It means that we can talk about the future and laugh because we can only imagine what's in store for us. It means that when the fridge gets unorganized he cleans it, it means that I don't have to ever worry about anything because he takes care of it. Last but not least it means that I have his support in whatever I do :)
The reason I wrote this post tonight was because today at clinic I went with a tech to do a portable chest because we only do a hundred a day, but this one was different. The patient was in the bed couldn't sit up by herself let alone do anything on her own. Well she had her husband (more like an angel) there beside her and would not leave her side. He helped me get the cassette behind her and I put lead on him and he held her while we took the x-ray. As I was getting everything ready to take the x-ray I told him " you are the sweetest husband I have ever seen" He looked at me and said " this is my baby and I am here for whatever she needs" I got teary eyed and that's when I walked off to take the x-ray. I went back to get the cassette and he told us that they had been married for 48 years and December 28th (can't remember the date) at 3:30 pm was the best day of his life. We told them to have a good day and walked back to the radiology department. Now I can not imagine the amount of love that he has for her because he doesn't see a woman that is helpless, a diaper he has to change, or a wig he has to put on her head. Instead he sees a beautiful woman that he exchanged vows with and built a life with. It was like a real life Notebook story. He truly was an inspiration to me today because these days people get married just to get married and have a wedding. Some people just give up after a fight and get a divorce. Some leave or find someone else when the other gets sick and has to be cared for. I left that ER knowing that there are good men out there and Yes I do have one of them, but I thought I was just one of the lucky few.
I am absolutely in LOVE with this post!! Growing old together seems like such a special gift.
